Rank Fast with these Topical Authority Tactics Ep.589
In this podcast episode featuring SEO Specialist Matthew Bertram, the focus is on demystifying Topical Authority in SEO and providing actionable…
On-page SEO fundamentals like unique title tags, alt image tags, proper anchor text, and internal linking structure form the foundation of effective search engine optimization for any website.
search engine visitor optimization is the process okay we believe it's pretty easy actually to get traffic to your website uh... if you've got an ugly useless website getting traffic to your website is not going to do you any value
We discuss the importance of Image Alt tabs. We also discuss the importance of proper on page linking and how that relates to offsite linking. Proper anchor text is also mentioned. An alt tag is attached to an image and contains text that search engines can read. Because search engines cannot read images directly, the alt tag tells them what the image is about. The hosts recommend including keywords in alt tags to help search engines understand page content.
Google uses title tags to understand what a page is about. Using the same title, like a company name, on every page does not signal any specific topic to Google. Each page should have a unique title tag with a keyword relevant to that specific page.
SEVO stands for search engine visitor optimization. The hosts coined this phrase to describe optimizing a website for visitors who arrive from search engines. It includes having the searched keywords visible on the landing page, clear calls to action, and aesthetically pleasing design so visitors do not immediately leave.
Linking every page back to the home page concentrates page rank there and means search engines will likely display the home page for many queries. If the home page lacks the specific keyword content a visitor searched for, they will bounce. Links should point to the most relevant page for each topic.
search engines don't read anything but text they can't read an image can't read audio but if you have that little tag it will read your meta tags so that's why meta tags are important

Chris Burris
Hi, and welcome to the Unknown Secrets of SEO podcast. Hi, welcome back to another fun-filled edition of the Unknown Secrets of SEO. My name is Chris Burris, owner of eWebStyle. And this is Paul Hanson, sales manager of eWebStyle. We are excited to be here with you today on our 56th podcast. Look at that. For real? Yeah. Did we skip 55? I hope not. Oh, did we do it? I hope not. It was a slow day. We just kind of cranked it out accidentally. Like we always do, we like to cover two things before we move into the meat of our podcast. First is, what did we talk about last time? Last time we talked about Google saving the planet. Oh, shout out to DarrenBooey.eu. Darren Booey, he gave us a, and it is post. I actually sent him a notice. I don't know if I CC'd you on that, Paul. Uh, I did send him a notice that we posted his complex calculations on our blog. On our blog. Yeah, so you can go out there and, uh, and you can actually find out how Google could literally save the planet. Uh, and we won't get into any more details about that. Um, the other thing we talked about, we had a great question from, uh, Acrylic Splashbacks. And we answered that. That was kind of in, in, uh, cohorts, cahoots, in cahoots with Darren Booey. And, uh, and his brother David. Is it acrylic? Splashbacks. Splashbacks. Acrylic Splashbacks. Or backsplashes. Yeah, I wish he would email me and tell me which is the correct, I always heard of this, backsplash. And yeah, and he's got splashed back, so maybe it's like a British thing. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Probably is. Um, and then, uh, you know what, if you want to stalk us, there's a, there's a couple of ways to stalk us. Um, we can help you stalk us. All right, on Twitter. Uh, if you want to find us on Twitter, go to twitter.com forward slash ewebstyle, no dash. Uh,
on Facebook, go to ewebstyle.com forward slash Facebook, and it will redirect you right to our Facebook page. And we're going to cover that, because apparently we've been instructed on Facebook. Oh, that's right, I did see that, uh, and I was like, ooh, I don't get that, I thought we had that. On Ustream, find us on Ustream, just go to ustream.com, what is our Ustream page? Easiest ewebstyle. Okay, because I, I just go to, honestly, I go to ustream.com, and I search ewebstyle, and that's how I find us every time. Hey, Paul, I've got an easier way. If you were to go to ewebstyle.com slash ustream, it would bring you right to it. And go to our YouTube page, and it's youtube.com forward slash ewebstyle. Is it? I don't know. I think it's ewebstyle.com. It could be, I don't even know. I'm pretty sure, though, you can get there from ewebstyle.com forward slash YouTube. Ustream is the letter Ustream, and YouTube is Y-O-U-Tube, as it is on the website. Those are all the great ways to stalk us. And you can also email us at podcast at ewebstyle.com. And I think people also email us from info at ewebstyle.com. We've got one here from support. Support. Yeah, this one that we'll be covering here is J-Y-O. J-Y-O. J-Y-O. I like it. I just wanted to say that. That's cool. I just made that out. I think it's cool. No, I think it's cool. J-Y-O. With Media Militia, we're going to get to his email here in a second. And he actually emailed us at podcast at ewebstyle.com and at support. He wanted to make sure that we got his message. And we did. So we'll be going over that. Do you got any news? You got... Uh, no. No? Okay. I was just checking because sometimes you bring in this really wacky stuff. I remember some guy got arrested and I don't know. Yeah, probably robbing his own bank that he banked at. Yeah, something ludicrous. Was it ludicrous? I don't know. I hope not. Uh,
all right, so HTC has a phone coming out. We were just talking about phones. Paul is, uh, is about to get a new phone. Which phone are you getting? I'm getting the HTC Hero. Hero. Awesome. Well, HTC's coming out with a new phone. And I don't know if you remember a while back we were talking, um, I think we were talking about, on the podcast, I think we were talking, there was, uh, reddit.com was following the whale. Did I tell you that whole thing? Splash pants? Oh, it was hilarious. So, I saw this presentation at some conference, it was a YouTube presentation, and reddit.com is one of those social media, uh, hey, I read it, somebody else, hey, you guys, go read it too, because it's cool. And there was a Greenpeace, was raising money so that they could, so that they could, um, actually save whales from being whaled by Japanese whalers. And they wanted a name for their whale. And, uh. So, they were pitching in to save a whale? So, I, well, it was going to be part of, like, all the shirts and everything, you know, it was going to, it was, what is the name of this whale that we're going to save? Well. Tuna. They had some amazing names, you know, like, the Farsi meaning for beautiful creature, I don't know, whatever, and, and all these other ones. And somebody suggested Splashy Pants. Splashy Pants. And tell me that is the name. Oh, hell yeah. Dude, wait. It's even better. So, Splashy Pants is winning, and they had this deadline. And Splashy Pants is winning, and Greenpeace is like, we don't want our whale named Splashy Pants. By the way, at this point, Splashy Pants was winning by, like, 60%. It was the majority. So, they extended it one more week. Reddit actually changed their logo. So, at first, it was just a cute little Splashy Pants. Now, it was the Splashy Pants with his fist up, right? He was fighting for his name. And Reddit, by the end,
a week later, Splashy Pants was up by 74%. The next closest was, like, two. That's what's up. So, now you can find Greenpeace T-shirts with Splashy Pants. That's so cheesy. The whale. Oh, man. And it's wonderful, right? I mean, it's one of the beautiful things of the internet. So, anyway, HTC has a new phone coming out, and they're putting up their options. They were a little smarter. They said, here are our options. These are the ones we're going to give you. So, we've got the HTC Jovi, the Zeal, the Wildfire, Festi, my phone. This is good. HTC 3PO. Oh, I like that. Good, huh? And Chris Burris. That's what's up. I got the new Chris Burris. I got the new Chris Burris phone. I'm fast. This is another thing that I saw. I just thought it was interesting because, you know, we do IT work as a company, and security researchers at a Black Hat conference showed a number of ways that you could easily hack Cisco's Wi-Fi flaws. What? Yeah. And Cisco's like a beefy powerhouse of technology. So, that's one of the reasons we tend to not install Wi-Fi for customers that we do, that we have. A woman was arrested in the UK for wheeling, trying to wheel a corpse onto a plane. What? Dude, man. She put sunglasses on. I don't even want to know. Yeah. I don't even want to know why she would try. For what? Like, my first thought is that, one. It's cheaper. I got to, yeah. I put them on a bus. Seriously. That's what they did in family vacation or something. It's driving through the roof of the car. I was going to say, a bus ticket's like, what, a hundred bucks? A plane ticket, right? Three fifty. Like, come on. I mean, just economically, I'm not even going to try that. Maybe there was some sort of deadline, so they, you know, they didn't have the time to throw them on the bus. Plan ahead for your dead relatives next time. Finally, we're all
kind of little geeky guys here with NSEO. So, Obama cancels the trip to the moon, says, we don't need any more government cheese. I like it. I love it. Oh, dang it. All right. I thought I just had to throw that one in there. It just came to my mind. All right. So, here we are. Let's talk about Jaya. What's up, Jaya at MediaMilitia.com. So, he did what we appreciate everyone doing. Go out. He created an iTunes account. He submitted a review about us. It's not up live yet, but he said it will probably take two to three days. Apparently, there's some delay now. I don't know. Maybe it's just a Jaya thing. And he also says there is actually a way. He started off Late Night Man was his little name, username on iTunes. And he was like, yeah, I don't really like that. I wish I could change it. And he figured out some way to change it. So, if you ever want to change your iTunes, like, what are those things called? I don't know. It's not just user. It's like handle. We'll do iTunes handle. So, Jaya is an iTunes handle expert, changer expert. And he actually gave us a really nice email, not just a nice review. By the way, so go out there, submit the review, give us some information that you're submitting the review, and we will give you a shout-out. Jaya is with MediaMilitia.com. He says, we are the place for free graphic design resources. And they actually have some awesome graphic design stuff. Oh, yeah, there's some really cool stuff on there, right? Yeah, I was like, wow, I'm stealing that. Sorry, guys. Well, one of the things that was cool, and I've never seen this before. Well, they, I think, give away a whole layer of, well, it's a PSD file. And so, I know we're getting a little off SEO. This is very relevant to graphic design. PSDs are Photoshop files, and it's got all these different layers. So, you can actually, it comes
with huge, I think, 100 and something layers. So, you could actually cut out layers and bring stuff in and use different components of this already cool-looking thing. So, go check out MediaMilitia. They've got some free stuff. Which is always awesome. Is there any, is, isn't that what the internet's for? Tell me about it. Free stuff. Piracy! Woo-hoo! So, he said, first off, I want to say, I love listening to your podcast on my way to work. I wish they came out daily. Is it me, or is this like two weeks in a row people are asking for more? Hey, man, people really are. And here's my answer to that. Hail to the no. And that is, what's up? By the way, he does quote Paul. He says, I've got to read this. Lefty review on iTunes as, well, review from late night man. He's a little apprehensive about that. Five star. And then, in caps, he says, now that's what's up. Ha ha. And J.A., that is what's up, man. That is cool. Thanks for calling me out on that. As soon as I saw that, I sent this text to Paul. I was like, Paul, you're the bomb. They're quoting you on our podcast. This is awesome. Anyway, so he says, I wish they came out daily. They're not going to. Which is a hell of a lot of work for us. Anytime soon. He did want to give us some pointers. He checked around on our website. We'll go real quick. Sometimes the audio is pretty bad. It clips. Yeah, we know. If this one is clipping, let us know, because it shouldn't be. What happened was, there's a mic on this system on the webcam. And there's a nice high-quality mic. And sometimes I wasn't remembering to change from the webcam mic to the high-quality mic. So we got a lot of clipping. We've hopefully ironed that out permanently. Internet marketing podcast is not up to date. We know. Sorry. We'll get to it. SEOprocessoutline.pdf still has MSN logo not being. We'll
fix that. Because that's a very, very good point. Lots of spelling errors. I wish I could say it wasn't my fault. That's what's up. You should create a Facebook URL. We mentioned this earlier. Apparently, we can make facebook.com slash e-webstyle. We'll be working on that. By the way, after I got this email, I was hoping all of this would be done. You know, it would be like, yeah, Jay hooked us up and we fixed all of this. Oh, and then we could pull, like, one of my clients. I checked all this stuff. It looked fine to me. Maybe you were looking at cash. What are you talking about, Jay? This has been done. He says, create your own site in Joomla, because we've been talking about ASP is out of date. You know, that is one of our plans. We actually have one rebuild of our own website that's been underway six months. You know, we're the mechanic who drives the crappy car, because he doesn't get paid to fix his car. Jay, you're putting us to work. Yeah. Dang, man. And then some ideas on podcast topics. He's got some more stuff. Local search. Actually, that's a great suggestion. I thought that was an awesome suggestion. Difference between Bing, Google, SEO tactics. Best SEO tools. Best SEM tools. How long does it normally take to be the first page of Google? Well, we proved with Blue One-Armed Widgets it can happen in a week, and how to start an SEO company. What? What? You want to create competition? What? Here's how you compete against us. The best way to compete against us. Google eWebStyle. There you go. Everyone who has eWebStyle on their page, call them. And say that you can do it less effectively. And I like this. I hope you don't take this e-mails being rude. I'm just trying to help. I love it, actually. I think that's awesome. We continually say we are world-class experts at what we do. We have maps of people who listen to us around the world
and great testimonials around the world to prove that. And we're not perfect. We have never said we're perfect. And anytime you can suggest anything, especially on our own website, you're just going to be helping us out. Yes. Except for that how to start an SEO company comment. And I'm going to delete that for this podcast. No one will ever know that that was in your e-mail. And, again, that was awesome from J-E-Y-A. Media Militia dot com. The place for free graphic design resources. That's what's up, J-E-Y-A. Thanks, man. We appreciate all of the help, all of the suggestions. And I'm actually going to get on some of your podcast ideas and start doing some research so I can help you guys out or everyone out with that. Yeah, again, send us an e-mail, podcast at e-webstyle.com. We really appreciate it. Obviously, we take them very seriously. And, again, you are listening. I don't think I've said this. You are listening to the most popular SEO podcast on iTunes. And it's because of you. It's because you guys are out there listening to our podcast, giving us good ratings, and enjoying yourselves. So we really appreciate that. If you get anything good out of this, there's a couple things you can do. You can actually go to Podomatic. Actually go to e-webstyle.com. So there's no www. Podomatic. Now I'm screwing it up again. e-webstyle.podomatic.com. That will take you to our podcast page on Podomatic. Get on there. Create an account. Become a friend, fan, follower, stalker, Kool-Aid drinker, something. That helps us out. And if you've got a blog and you could post on a blog or anything like that, just go ahead and do that. Link back to us. We really appreciate that. So I wanted to rewind it back. That was good. This time, because we've been getting, I think we've been getting a little sidetracked. And we are talking, you know, it's great that we're interacting with people. We've got new people starting to listen to our podcast. And even though we lecture
them repeatedly to go back to podcast number one and listen to all of them, some of them do, a lot of them probably don't. So we wanted to say, you know, what are the real bottom line fundamentals? And I think it's always good to review this. Oh, look, there's a map right there in the back. If you guys are watching, that's where people listen to us. You see, we've got, I'm American, so I don't know most of these places. We have the United States. There's a lot in the U.S. There's some other stuff across the water. That's Costa Rica. We've got Costa Rica. We've got Brazil. I think we did a shout-out to Sao Paulo. Dude, check that out. Whoever is in Iceland, hit us up. For real. Send us an email and tell us that you're listening from Iceland. That is what's up. That is. You are the coolest cat in the whole country. We've got all UK. We've got all throughout Europe, Spain, France, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand. We'll say that's Malaysia. I was just going to say Asia because, like. Yeah, we've got a couple spots in Asia. This map's a little sparse on that. Anyway, that's the back of my notes. So we're going to take it back and we want to really say, you know, what are the fundamentals? So this is, maybe this is the first podcast that you're listening to. You've decided you want to do SEO or at least learn about it so that you can police your SEO company. Always a good idea. Unless you're working with us and then we just give you so much information. You're like, okay, that's enough. So all you need to do is focus on these things. What are some on-page stuff? I'm going to quiz you, Paul. Okay, I'll say for on-page, you need to be working on your meta tags. Boom. That's good. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, yeah. Okay, so what kind of meta tags are there? I would say, oh, there's more tags than I can actually name
out. That's probably true. But here's what I can tell you to focus on. You want to have your correct title tags. Unique for every single page. That's quick, easy. Oh, wait, that's unique for every single page. That's really important. You can quick, easy do that in your web design software. Very simply, I wouldn't spend more than a few minutes on it. Just make sure I put a keyword in it, make sure it's relevant to the page. Yeah, when you say that, you know, it's interesting because I think even when we first started making websites, you tend to want to just put, like, your company name on the title tag of every page. And that's not very helpful. Google doesn't really appreciate that. Yes. So that's important. There's also a description tag, which describes the page, which obviously should be unique for every page. It should also have some keywords in it. That's good. That's about it. Well, there's keywords, there's descriptions, and then there's a keyword tag also. There's a keyword tag. In the meta tags. So you want to make sure your keyword has, I don't know, keywords? Should you put keywords in your keyword meta tag? That would definitely help. Because there are still some search engines that will read the keyword tag. Yep. Absolutely. Other tags that you should focus on. So these are kind of for if you're new to HTML development or whatever development, PHP, ASP, .NET, whatever. That pretty much covers most of them. Then there are a lot of tags, and these are kind of like behind the scenes. So one example is a header tag. And a header has a number of different header tags. There's an H1 tag. There's an H2 tag. There's an H3. And really what those kind of, the way they manifest on the front of what a user sees is an H1 tag is really big text. And it's a header one tag. So this is the primary header typically of the page, but maybe of a section. Google says, hey, if
they're going to bother to put a header tag here and an H1 tag, then there must be some information about whatever's in that header tag in there. You do an H2. It is larger than the rest of the text on the page typically. And it's a little bit smaller. H3 just keeps getting smaller. And so those are good ways to kind of identify, and Google's able to tell these things. Google and Bing are able to tell that, hey, these sections are about these pieces of information. So you definitely want to be using H tags. Another one is alt tag. Alt tag. I knew what this was for about a year before I actually figured out what the name of it was. He was walking around the office. Hey, designer, I need more. You know when you put your cursor over the image and that thing pops up? I need here. Here's the list. Just like Chris says, you want to put your cursor over an image or something, and a little text box pops up and says, hey, this is what this is. Why does that happen? Because search engines don't read anything but text. They can't read an image. They can't read audio. But if you have that little tag, it will read your meta tags. So that's why meta tags are important. Yep. That's awesome. And so that is the alt tag for your images. It's kind of a way to give, again, Google can't discern images. I think they're coming out with algorithms to do that. That will be happening eventually. And, you know, actually that's not going to help that much unless it's text or somebody famous. So there might be reason to have a picture of us actually on your website because they're like, hey, this page is about SEO. Yeah. And put an alt tag with my name on it. And mine. Yeah. Because Google doesn't know me yet. Yet. They will soon. Also, another very important thing for on-page stuff is proper linking. All right. So there are
so many things. The implications of proper linking are so varied. One of the things, remember we talked early on in one of our podcasts about PageRank and about Larry Page. And we're talking literally about the Google algorithm. And one of the things that is true is improper linking within your website can hold back the value, the Google page rank that an individual page can have. You can never, there's a maximum that it can have based on the number of pages in your website and the linking that you, the linking that orchestrates that. There's a maximum page rank that a particular page can have. The only thing you can do is with proper linking, make sure that you maximize it. You can never exceed whatever that maximum is. Of course, that's what maximum usually means. But you can fall short by a number of reasons, one of them being improper linking. Well, just as an example, let's say you just put up a new page and you call it new.html and you send it to, you know, all of your clients and you neglect to remember to include it in your regular website. So now all your clients have access to this new page. They can view it and it's great. And Google can't find it. That would be like the epitome of proper linking. There's a particular name for that. It's like a dangling page. And there are actually web services out there that you can go, you can give them FTP access to your website. They'll search your website from a browser perspective and then they'll search it through the FTP. And so they'll identify all these pages and they'll say, hey, wait a minute. There's like four or five pages that you have that are not linked in your website. And you may have that for a reason. Like, you know, you may have created that new HTML page and sent it to clients to get their feedback and you never intend it to be out there. So there may be some reasons.
So those are good softwares. That's pretty easy to find those softwares out there. So, but yeah, you want to make sure that you're linking properly. Another aspect of linking, we talk about this regularly. You know, a lot of people have home, the word home, linking to your home page. And if you're using the text home, Google says, hey, at the end of this link, which is home, there should be information about home. And there rarely is. Yes. Right? It's just, you know, it's just some standard way to navigate back to the home page. Which could usually have been given some other name, right? That's true. Like primary or first or primary is a little long. Anyway, so there's something. One to the one. Oh, that was way above my head. It's just one. Primus. Anyway, so that, you typically don't want to remove that because everybody does know what home means. And that does get you to the home page. And you also want to make sure that if you've got valuable information about internet marketing on your home page, that somewhere you've got a link to that says internet marketing and links to your home page. Because then you're telling Google, the text on the page tells Google that it's about internet marketing. And the text and the link going to your home page says to Google that it's about internet marketing. So have proper anchor text on all of your anchors. I would even recommend throwing in a keyword on your anchor text. An anchor text? Whoa. So if you have a page about search engine optimization, hey, you can visit. You want to learn more about search engine optimization, and I'm using air quotes, hyperlinking that with air quotes. And that anchor text links back to your SEO page or your web design page or whatever page, your plumber's page, whatever it is. Use proper anchor text. Very important. And those are kind of things that not only, so the page rank is associated with, I think the algorithm says
something like, so if I were on any random page, what is the chance of me ending up on this random page? And that chance is kind of the definition of page rank. So you can imagine if you're on any random page, the next link, the next random link you click on that random page is more likely to get you to Wikipedia or MSN than it is going to get you to, you know, Bob's head shop. Who's Bob? So, I'm having lunch at the end of the day. I'm taking a long lunch. So remember that. Proper anchor text. And the next thing that I wanted to talk about, again, this is kind of going back to basics. We're really hitting this hard and fast because there are, you know, a lot of loyal listeners who have heard this ad nauseum. Next thing is SEVO, search engine visitor optimization. This is actually a phrase that we've kind of coined, and we really say that search engine visitor optimization is the process. Okay, we believe it's pretty easy actually to get traffic to your website. If you've got an ugly, useless website, getting traffic to your website is not going to do you any value. So you need to optimize your website for search engine visitors. So if they get to your website, again, from Internet Marketing, then you need to have some text. In our case, like Internet Marketing Houston, you need to have some text on that landing page, the page they end up landing on, that says Internet Marketing Houston. Because we all want to avoid the dreaded bounce. Bounce. Right? Because, you know, if they get there and all they see is just some text. And you know what? Frankly, the text could be very relevant. Again, it could all be about search engine optimization and SEO and all of these things, which is Internet Marketing. But some people don't know that. So if they land on your page having typed Internet Marketing Houston, they really should pretty quickly see the words Internet
Marketing Houston. So that has to do with content. We talk about SEVO starting at the SERP. So whenever possible, we want our clients to actually have their phone number in the result. So, I don't know, say you Google Joe the Plumber, right? So Plumbing Houston. And Joe's website comes up. There's some information about Joe's website right there. We would like the phone number there. Because then somebody doesn't even have to go to his website to actually pick up the phone and give him a call. So that's where search engine visitor optimization starts. Then it continues on to the page. When they click on the page, what do you want them to do? First off, it needs to be aesthetically pleasing. You know, they're probably going to pick one, two, three different sites. So you need to be at least equal to those three other sites and then have better, I don't know, like calls to action. Definitely want better calls. You want calls to action in general. And that kind of reminds me to another point. Your landing page. And this is something I see a lot of people do. Don't make every single link go to your homepage. If you have an anchor text about search engine visitor optimization, you know, unless your homepage is about search engine SIBO, send them to that page. You know, you don't want to send every single page to that link. And here's another way. This will help you in the search engine results page. If they are searching for plumbing supplies and every single link to your website goes back to your homepage, the search engine robot is probably going to pull up your homepage. So whatever text is displayed underneath your title is going to come from your homepage. So unless you have plumbing supplies on your homepage, it might come up with something to say, hey, we are such and such company. Welcome to this. Make sure you're linking to the proper pages and don't put every single internal or external link back to your
homepage only. Link to other pages in the website. That's a great point. We actually end up doing some iteration with different websites as we're working on getting them on the first pages of the different search engines. You know, one example is a quit smoking hypnosis was instead of leading to the main page, it was actually leading to the homepage for page rank reasons and other reasons. And we really didn't have anything concrete on there that said quit smoking hypnosis. So we put an active icon, a little smoke coming out in the little circle with the line through it. So it was very prominent. So if somebody ended up on that homepage having typed quit smoking hypnosis, they knew exactly where to click. So this whole process can be very iterative very often. You know, we probably have never said this, and this is actually very important. Go search. You know, as you're improving in your search results, search as a user and actually click through, right? And when you click through, see what you see and try and think of it as, okay, I typed plumbing Houston and I ended up on this page and it happens to be Joe the plumber and his dog and pictures of his family. You know, that's probably not the best landing page. So change that page up or change parts of it. Just make it very clear that you can find plumbing Houston information on that website. So have calls to action, you know, like click here for plumbing Houston information. So basically review your analytics and see what terms are people searching for often, and you might want to put those on your most landed page. And that's a, I made that up. I mean, that's, I don't know if that's a term. I think it's good, yeah. The page that people hit most. One to the one page. There you go. Make sure that you have those key terms on that page. Another thing that we like to talk about a lot in Civo, actually we're
running a little bit over, we'll say this real quick. Easy navigation, right? Simple and consistent throughout. And standard. Okay, so there's some, some people like to, you know, maybe put the links across the bottom, and it may be very easy. If it's not standard, it's kind of inherently harder. So make it easier. So we're used to seeing links on the left. We're used to seeing links on the top. Try and keep them there. If you want to get more creative, you know, actually Jaya has some, because it's a very artistic website, he can play around with that. The same point, you've got to be careful, you know, because you're going to turn some people off. You know, it depends on what your target audience is and what they're willing to tolerate. And, you know, are they excited because they have to search for the links? There are people like that, and they tend to be more creative. Or are they frustrated because they can't get to exactly what they want? So, very important, make sure you've got easy navigation and standard navigation. And what is that thing where, remember, if you're using JavaScript for your navigation menu, you might want to include a text navigation menu. Hard-coded, we call it like pyramid navigation at the bottom. Yeah, because Google can't necessarily traverse all JavaScript. Or maybe they could because they're really brilliant, and they just have decided not to. Not to. Because they're ornery and mean, and they start with a capital G, which was one of Jaya's things. We misspelled Google because it's lowercase. All right, we'll get right on that. That is the end of podcast number 56. We really appreciate you. That's not what's up. That is not what's up. That's what's not up. Thanks, Jaya. Now I'm going to overuse that phrase all the time. You're already using it subconsciously. I know. I walked by him today, this morning, and he's like, that's what's up. I was like, what, are you warming up for the podcast? He was like, what? I said, that's what's up. Did I just say that? I say that to my grandmother. She's like, that's what's up, Grandma. She's like, yeah, baby. So you learned it. This is like generational. You learned it from Grandma. She's passing it on. Passing the that's what's up torch. That's right. So go back over your basics. If you listen to this, go back over the earlier podcast. Go over your basics.
