Questions this episode answers

What is content curation and how does it differ from stealing content?

Content curation means researching published content on a topic, then discussing and publishing it with your own meaning and additions. It is not article spinning or site jacking. You take someone else's content, research it, break it down, add to it, make it your own, and publish it because it relates to what you offer.

How do you avoid duplicate content issues when curating?

Avoid straight syndication by editorializing the content and taking a position in your blog post with a link to the original. Simply reposting the same content across channels creates duplicate content problems. Add a different perspective, supporting facts, or a controversial angle to make the content distinct and worth engaging with.

Should curated content live on social media or your own website?

It should live on your own site and be promoted through social media. Your site is where conversions happen, where your remarketing script lives, and where your sales funnel is designed to operate. Social activity should point people back to your site, including all curated content.

How do you find content to curate if your industry is slow-moving or dry?

Check your manufacturers and distributors, as they often have strong existing content you can curate. The episode uses a pool service client as an example, where product brochures and distributor materials provided a starting point for curated posts tied to that specific business.

Find these resources. Give your expert opinion. Better yet, your opinion on how that specific topic works with your business. That's how you tie it into your product, your service.
