Building inbound links is the single biggest factor in search engine positioning, and websites should use a link pyramid, keyword-rich anchor text, and clear calls to action to convert traffic.
I think all in all, the one thing that'll have the greatest impact, and this is the same for every analysis that I ever do, is your link building.
For Internet Marketing, we discuss specific calls to action to convert web traffic into subscribers or other paying customers. We also discuss inbound links and proper title tags make sure you get the right combination. Always remember high quality high value links are more important than lots of low value links.
If your top navigation is built in Flash or JavaScript, Google may not be able to follow those links and will not know your other pages exist. A text link pyramid at the bottom lets Google discover and crawl all internal pages, ensuring they all receive link juice.
According to this episode, reciprocal links are largely a zero-sum game. Google sees your link going out and their link coming back, and the value cancels out. The focus should be on earning one-way inbound links, especially from high-authority sites.
The hosts suggest testing both approaches. Showing prices can attract comparison shoppers who are not ready to buy. For service industries with credibility concerns, removing prices and motivating visitors to call may improve lead quality, since the sale often requires a conversation first.
Google's stated policy is that paid ads should not count as ranking links. The hosts note Google does not want site owners paying high-PR websites to insert keyword-rich text links, as that is considered manipulation of their system. Run ad campaigns for direct traffic, not for link credit.
I think all in all, the one thing that'll have the greatest impact, and this is the same for every analysis that I ever do, is your link building. I mean, I think that's going to have the biggest effect on your search engine positioning.
