Questions this episode answers

Does Google Plus One improve SEO rankings?

According to this episode, Google Plus One has no overall SEO effect. It does affect personalized search results for logged-in users, meaning Google may surface pages that a user's connections have plus-oned, but this benefit applies only to that individual user and not to general rankings.

What is a bounce rate and does time on site affect it?

A bounce is when a visitor lands on a page and leaves from that same page without clicking elsewhere, regardless of how long they stay. Time on site is measured separately, from the first click to the last click on the site. Spending 30 minutes on one page still counts as a bounce.

How can I prevent content scrapers from outranking my original content?

When you publish fresh content, submit your site for reindexing through Webmaster Tools so Google can identify you as the originator. If a scraper gets indexed before you, Google may mistakenly credit them as the original source, which the Panda update was designed to prevent but does not fully stop.

Why should I use Microsoft Ad Center for PPC instead of only Google AdWords?

Ad Center costs less per click than AdWords and a click from Bing is still a highly targeted potential client. The episode recommends maxing out the Ad Center budget first, then managing AdWords. You can build campaigns in AdWords, export them, and import them directly into Ad Center using the same criteria.

In their words

A bounce is literally, I came there, even if I spent 30 minutes, and I left off of that one page, that's a bounce.
