Businesses can improve social media results by tailoring content to each platform, posting at peak engagement times, prioritizing quality followers over quantity, and keeping tweets under 100 characters to allow room for retweets.
if you have hashtags that you use frequently on like Facebook and Twitter and G plus and Instagram, then create content on your website optimized for that same hashtag.
Welcome to the most popular internet marketing podcast on iTunes, hosted by E-Webstyle! Join us this week as we talk aboutSpeaking the Language of the Target AudienceSocial Media Mistakes to Avoid Dangerous Social Media Pitfalls
Treating all social media platforms the same is cited as the top mistake. Each platform has a different audience and features. Twitter requires short, pointed content under 140 characters, Facebook suits longer posts and video, Google Plus attracts more technical users, and Instagram is best for images and reaching an 18 to 30 demographic.
According to the episode, Facebook engagement rates are 18% higher on Thursdays and Fridays. On Twitter, weekdays see 14% more engagement than weekends, with 5 p.m. having the highest amount of retweets. Posting only early in the morning is discouraged because many followers have not yet started their day.
The hosts say automated messages are okay in some contexts, such as a brand offering a coupon or an artist sharing a free mixtape link, but generic spammy welcome messages are disliked and can lead to unfollows. Automated messages work better for products and artists than for service providers.
Keeping tweets under 100 characters makes them easy to read and, more importantly, leaves room for someone to add their own comment when retweeting. If a tweet uses the full character limit, followers may skip retweeting it entirely because they cannot add their own message.
you don't really want to use LinkedIn like you use Twitter. And so, let's take that a step further. You don't want to use LinkedIn like you use Twitter. You don't want to use Twitter like you use Facebook.
