SEO must be built into every business decision from the start, not treated as a quick fix, because it is a long-term, data-driven strategy that no plugin or gut instinct can replace.
Welcome to the most popular internet marketing podcast on iTunes, hosted by E-Webstyle! Join us this week as we talk aboutUnderstanding Videos and SEO4 Things People Don't Understand About SEOSEO Won't Fix Your Broken Products
According to the hosts, a plugin organizes and simplifies SEO tasks but you still have to write good content, build links, submit sitemaps, optimize images, and stay socially active. The plugin cannot do that work for you, and an unused or outdated plugin can even invite security vulnerabilities.
The hosts explain that a new site will not rank organically on day one and can take three to six months. Running a paid campaign for 30 to 60 days generates conversion data, showing which keywords and pages perform best before investing in long-term organic optimization.
The hosts say decisions should be based on digital analytics, not gut instinct. They hold monthly client conferences to review reports, identify which keywords produced conversions, determine which conversions became actual leads, and then adjust the strategy for the next 30 days based on those findings.
Yes. The hosts share an example with Manning Pool Service, where SEO reports revealed that most pool inspection leads were coming from real estate agents. That data led the agency to recommend opening a dedicated department for realtor pool inspections, creating a new revenue line for the client.
SEO is not an add-on but a build-in

Hi, and welcome to the SEO Podcast, Unknown Secrets of Internet Marketing. My name is Chris Burris, owner of eWebStyle. I am Charles Lewis, so internet marketing specialist. Welcome back to another fun-filled edition of our podcast. This is podcast number 280. If you heard the freestyle, which you can get somewhere, we've got to make sure we put that out somewhere, you would know that it's podcast 280. As always, there is a tip from our previous podcast, and the tip this time is understand the different uses a video can have and go and create some videos. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Video serves different uses, different purposes, especially when being used on the internet. For example, maybe you have a complicated product and people always call you and ask you, how do you install this, how do you use it? Create how-to installation videos. Or maybe you have a product that you really need to highlight some of the features of that product. Create a feature-based video that you can use on YouTube. Maybe you have a client testimonial and reviews are a huge part of your selling process that you may want to create a whole bunch of testimonial-type videos. But however you do it, you can create videos for however you really need them and then not only use them on the web, but repurpose them on the web. Include them in your newsletter. Include them on your social media. Include them on your website. And make sure that people can find them and find them easily. Because when people see video, they watch video. They watch it. Yep, absolutely. They watch it and it usually engages them. And if your video is engaging, then time on site goes up and your conversions usually go up as well. Absolutely. Excellent. Hey, remember, we're your celestial gods of SEO broadcasting live from Houston, Texas. And we are your friendly local neighborhood top position snatchers. Top position snatchers. And our mantra is... Don't be a douche. Do not be a douche. And that's why it was my debate. I
was like, okay, celestial, I had to make sure you weren't going down a douchey past year. Yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. No, he's actually good. I might have to tag my co-host here as a douche for the duration of this podcast. I cleared the hurdle. You cleared. I cleared the hurdle. All right. Because I would have tagged you. I was about to do it. This is some douchey introduction. All right. So we've got a... Keep my partner in the shins for that one. We've got some good content today. The content is a nice article. Oh, man. So I want to give a punch in the face man to Tron Lingbo over at Search Engine Land posted this article, Four Things Most Leaders Don't Understand About SEO. And so he talks about how SEO can help with your content and the things that usually decision makers don't understand about SEO. So I think my agencies and people like that who are tuning in, you get a kick out of today's content. You're going to appreciate that for sure. Hey, if you're in a position to and you can and you have some sort of device, we're going to ask you to do something right now, what is it? Tweet us. Tweet us, please. Tweet us at eWebStyle at BestSEO Podcast. Be sure to use the hashtag hashtag SEO Podcast. If you want to tag this one, this is number 280. And like I said, tag us in it. That way we can follow you back and do all of our social networking. Yeah. Hey, if this is the first podcast that you've checked out, howdy. Welcome to the podcast. Appreciate you tuning in. If you've listened to this podcast before, you're probably aware of what's coming next. Yes, you should be. We ask you if you're watching this podcast again and if you enjoy it, you get some good information out of it, that you do a couple of things. One of them has three steps. It's been so long since I've done this. I'm not even
sure I'm going to do it right. One of them has three steps and that is go onto iTunes, create an account, and write a review. Hopefully you'll make that review faster. And if you do write a review, go ahead and send us an email, podcast at e-wefstyle.com And we'll read your review on the air. You'll notice no tear tattoo, right? I noticed that. Because what happens? Because you tatted up last week. Yeah, last week was sad. It was a full tattoo. I can't remove it yet because I've got only one review this week. Next week, hopefully we'll have more. The next place you could leave us a review is go to our G Plus page. We've made it really easy for you to get to. Really, really, really, really, really, really easy. Easy. As opposed to, you know, the other way that we could send you there which is like google.com slash 19467 When the count jumped over the moon. Yeah. 3.1415 So, all you have to do is go to e-webstyle.com slash Google Plus Or slash Google Plus Or slash G Plus Or slash G Plus All of those will take you to our G Plus local page And when you get there Yes. When you get there is the most important part. After you type that in and you get there do two things for us. First off, leave us a review. Hopefully that review is five stars. After you leave that review put us in a circle that way you can share some content with us and we can share some content with you. Excellent. So, next we can go to our I don't know let's say Stitcher page. The best way to get to our Stitcher page is actually to start on our page. Go to e-webstyle.com you'll see in the right sidebar a Stitcher link go to Stitcher. Actually, you do have to be at a computer to do that. So, leave us a review on Stitcher and we need a little help of a Stitcher people are a little
persnickety. Persnickety? They often leave reviews that really aren't germane to our podcast and so that's a little frustrating. So, in order to kind of counteract that what we want to do is make sure that that we obfuscate their actual reviews by putting positive reviews on top of them. Obfuscate. Obfuscate. Remember that. I think I've used that once before. So, just No, I still don't know what it means. It's okay. We'll just say hide. Yeah, obfuscate. It sounds like hide. Cool. So, those are the did I miss anything? I think I've got iTunes. Oh, Facebook. I can't forget Facebook. Go to our Facebook page facebook.com slash e-webstyle and when you get there you will find there's like two there's a review app and then there's the main review place if you review us in the review place you should make that review five stars and if you use the other place it doesn't have stars so just don't use that one is what I recommend so those are all the ways and finally there are lots of ways you can haunt us stalk us harass us facebook.com slash e-webstyle which we just covered twitter.com slash e-webstyle youtube.com slash e-webstyle and instagram.com slash e-webstyle all of those are ways that you can follow us haunt us harass us stalk us if you are a PHP genius a WordPress guru we're probably looking for you please call us and leave an audio resume our number is 713-510-7846 and there's a little process just go through that process if you can if you want a free website analysis go to our website e-webstyle.com and you will find a free website analysis form if you're in a hurry go ahead and either follow up with an email give us a call we're running a little bit behind on those usually so reach out to us and we'll get those done I've actually had conversations with a couple people and then processed them I just haven't forwarded them their actual analysis yet so and that is a SIBO analysis it's a
little bit different search engine visitor optimization that's where we're really focused on what do you do with the visitor after they arrive from the search engine it's a very in-depth analysis ladies and gentlemen it's not just hey your site sucks or your site's good and you should do this no it's hey you should do these things here's what you can do to do better here's what you can do to improve and by the way here's some technical stuff that's wrong with your site also behind the scenes stuff yeah definitely a good tool you can use to kind of move forward in a different direction or a tool that you can look at and say you know what I want you guys to fix this stuff yeah and either way to go we'll be glad to help glad to help you now it is time for our favorite segment of the podcast the algorithm cataclysm I gotta reach over here for this so you can remain there we go that was good that was kind of low on the Richter scale yeah oh it didn't have that much shaking didn't have that much shaking we've improved the tripod so maybe that's a problem and the camera and the camera's a little more stable than the other one yeah so dig this with our algo cat today so SMX was this week okay it was going on and at SMX the guy Gary Ilyas Ilyas I'm not sure how to pronounce his name but he's on Google's engineering team he announced that they're rolling out panda updates in the next coming weeks yep which is necessary so glad that they're finally pushing this through because a lot of people who are familiar with algorithm cataclysms and how they work is once you've gotten bitten what is beat down by the panda or pooped on by the panda yep then you go to your site you make these changes you improve your content you get rid of the thin content and all of that kind of stuff you
don't come back for that until the next panda refresh and so they're literally saying we're about to roll out a panda refresh so anyone who has been penalized by an algorithm this is a phenomenal time for you to go exactly go in redo your content man get rid of that thin content combine those short pages make longer pages and improve that because you want to get your ranking back after the refresh now he also said during that same panel that they're changing the penguin algorithm okay they're automating it and so it'll always run continuously instead of needing manual refreshes or whatever exactly so which and penguin targeted links and so if you're in the process of doing spamming link building practices or I don't know just faulty link building practices or swapping links and all those things that penguin was targeting right yeah you might want to change that pretty quickly get in there and start disavowing some things maybe cleaning up your link profile go revisit your link profile be the best thing to do to make sure that your links are consistent that they're natural that they look natural at the very least and they're not kind of rogue because it won't be good for you you will get pooped on by the panda by the penguin yeah is it a panda or a penguin so it was both of them oh yeah okay but we said it was pooped on by the panda and the penguin smackdown yeah it was the debate on the poop by the panda or the black eye of the panda I don't know we ended up with the poop cool alright I got a little bit of news this is related news I thought this was interesting less than one third of the top CMOs so that's chief marketing officers are active on Twitter so fortune 500 less than one third so it kind of fires the debate about the usefulness of Twitter of Twitter right well if your target is CMOs then yeah it's not going
to be useful for you because they're not there but if your target is HR people or you know lower level people then they're guaranteed they'll probably be there yeah pissing off the CMO because they're not working they're on Twitter are you actually working yes I am it's I'm tweeting that's my job that's what I'm supposed to do the next one Google decreased so there was a decrease in the last quarterly report for Google that their CPC went down so cost per click went down and they came back a lot of people was like oh it was because of mobile optimization and all this mobile optimization reduced the cost per click the value that Google was bringing in based on the cost per click and what they came back and said it was based on YouTube TrueView so YouTube TrueView is when you you know there's two types of YouTube videos you can see you can see one video that has the three second which literally you're like three two one click and click yeah I've never ever ever ever ever ever watched the whole commercial when I had an opportunity to skip past to skip the other one is and there's others I think where you can just have the option to skip and then there's ones where you don't have the option where you have to choose well that's Ustream I run it Ustream makes you choose YouTube video as I was like okay Ustream that's lazy yeah so if you get past the three two one and they actually watch the whole video that's where you get value and then click through to something that's considered a click right if they watch the whole video and it's substantially cheaper than other things by the way you should be doing video on YouTube especially the true view kind and so they're getting clicks and those true view clicks are less expensive and so it's bringing down their overall CPC and what they did is they said if we pull out the true view we
actually had an incremental growth in line with what we were expecting so I thought that was pretty interesting and again another testament to doing video well and not just that what they didn't share or they probably did but when you consider how much revenue they probably still made more revenue even with the true view decreased CPC than the previous because there were tons of true views that happened and each one of those has a certain dollar amount attached to it and so even though the cost per click was a lot lower it probably was more of them and so therefore it still ended up with more funding yeah it's one metric that is a percentage metric not an overall metric and so it's fun to discuss oh it's because of mobile getting and all this stuff and no it's because we have a new technology and it's cost per click is lower no it's because we've showed you more ads yeah and I run showed you more ads alright so I gotta actually I do have I can remove that tattoo I'll get that removed tonight I've got two reviews here one of them is from Facebook I believe this is Jody Snodgrass Carson Snodgrass Carson yep she says document controller at Zephon International Inc I started listening to your podcast today and enjoyed listening getting ready to download more of your podcast thank you I look forward to learning punch in the face to you Jody Snodgrass Carson very cool and then next you have an awesome name yes Snodgrass Carson very memorable and the next is actually from Click Play Films who gave them a punch in the face last time had a good conversation with him he does the aerial videographer with the ROV or the drones and this review is fast it says for the best SEO podcast out there Chris and Charles are insightful and fresh SEO is constantly evolving and this podcast keeps me up to date and helps me make sense of it all they are a fun
duo to listen to and easy to understand and follow even for easy to understand and follow even for a novice like me I look forward to listening to them every week punch in the face you do appreciate you tuning in I mean Click Play Films we just need a drone to play with I just want to go we need one our office may be small but it would be really cool to have a drone video just flying around and then have the crash video that's inevitably going to have crash right into Alex so he shows up with his drone and we answer the door with little bats we're ready we're about to break it man so bring the one you don't care about so I got some news as well I got a couple of tips so this news almost could have been Algo Cat it's that important so Google this goes for everyone who has a Google Plus listing right it's one thing to get that local listing and get it set up because you need to do that in order to help your chances of ranking locally now if you've done it they're changing the rules to the game you can't set it and forget it no more you need to be on there posting you need to have some content that profile needs to be complete and you need to have logged in and been active within the last six months why because Google says they may unverify inactive local business listings they're going to try to contact people first that haven't logged in within six months and if there's no response they may unverify your profile I think that's good I think it's a great thing I think that's a phenomenal thing because there's a lot of bad listings out there for sure especially from fictitious companies and just people who've moved and never cleaned up their old stuff exactly so it's necessary but at the same time that means we have to be on it so go in and be
active on your Google Plus page and I would say the easiest tip to do that whatever you posted on Facebook share it on Google Plus you may want to make a few adjustments to it but share it on Google Plus so at least you have some consistent activity absolutely in regards to my petitions I'm going to give a punch in the face to James Hunt he hit us up on Twitter he's at EmporiumCEO he says pretty simple at E-WebStyle I am listening at E-WebStyle listening to your podcast exclamation point exclamation point exclamation point which I guess that should read listening to your podcast maybe you could throw in a yo after yo listening to your podcast it would be Mr. T I guess listen to your podcast yo listen to your podcast fool I was bringing him into the pitiful listening to this podcast do you remember Eddie Murphy's yeah that was hilarious that's throwback I do remember that so that was my pit tip man and my news alright so that is the potatoes of our podcast it's time to get into the meat and you've already been teased about the meat four things most leaders don't understand about SEO yeah so punch in the face to you Tron search engine land where we pulled this from and so let's get right in it he says fact number one SEO is not an add-on but a build-in fact number one SEO is not an add-on but a build-in and he's talking about building it into your whole marketing process he goes on to say search engines has become search engines have become an indispensable part of the consumer's decision making and buying process which means that organic search is very important for every business and he's absolutely right like organic search is extremely important from all sorts of levels from a local level from your product listing level from just being found when people search for things like near me in their mobile searches all of those return organic results and so organic search
is an extremely important part so what I'm adding to that first statement is you should discuss SEO from the start of your project very beginning maybe if you're going into a new website redesign or you're rolling out maybe when you're choosing your domain name and your company name exactly think SEO think about the content you're going to create which we'll go into in a minute think about your branding think about all of that stuff and how your SEO is going to be affected because it's that important he kept on going he says speaking about SEO being not being an add-on but a built-in he says some of the most important ranking factors are external such as getting links from authoritative websites in your niche then he says for best results SEO should be integrated with all your other marketing initiatives and he's right you have to consider SEO the SEO impact from every decision that you make because these decisions could either positively or negatively affect how your site is ranking so when you consider those build-ins let's talk about he goes into depth about those different areas where you may want to consider SEO and the first he says is the content marketing he says research your ideal prospect search behavior to gather the insights for planning your content figure out what they're searching for how they're searching you how they're finding you or what terms they're using to find you what terms they're using to look for you what are their search queries figure out all the data mining you can do about how you're being found through search and then use those keywords you use those queries when you plan your content and so it's important for content marketing having an SEO thought process about optimizing the terms that people are actually looking for I just remember one podcast it was probably about four or five podcasts ago where one of the ideas that we had and offered from an article was reach out to your sales department the people are fielding
calls and even your support team people fielding calls what are the questions that clients are asking for what are the problems that they're potentially having with your products because they're probably having that problem with other products and out there searching for solutions so write content generate content based on what they're saying get feedback he says your SEO should also be included when you consider your paid search campaign and he goes on to say he's absolutely right we do it all the time he goes on to say it is true that SEO and paid search are different beasts requiring specialized knowledge but both address search users and having some SEO and PPC teams work together can be extremely powerful and he's absolutely right we do it all the time especially when we have an account that's allowing us to do both the SEO and paid and frankly all of our packages our smallest packages SEO and paper and pay-per-click and that's that's by design because we understand especially for for a newer site or these companies who may not have the historical data right that we need like if you haven't had analytics on your site the past year six months to a year that I can't go back and figure out how your site is performed right and so it's easier for me to just grab a few hundred books and do a paid campaign for 30 days 60 days and figure out what's converting which pages convert well you know which keywords are going to generate the best traffic which keywords are going to generate the best conversions before keys before we're going and optimize for those things so that way we'll have enough data that makes sense to move forward optimize it and so and another thing about that and this is one of the things I added one of the main reasons you want to kind of run the two simultaneously is because we all know a new site is not going to rank organically after the first day day one it's
going to take three months six months depending on the nature of your business and so paid search is a great way to supplement that if you need some immediate ROI paid search is the way to go and who doesn't exactly and then it helps you get the research and the data you need to properly optimize your site so paid searches definitely should be included in your SEO campaign you know what else should be included conversion rate optimization what we like to call it he goes on to say SEO can bring you better results once you understand your website visitor on a deeper level and he's absolutely right once you understand what your visitor does when they get to your site like these visitors from this state tend to watch videos these visitors tend to read my blog post and then watch a video these other visitors tend to bounce and go strictly social like once you understand how your visitors are performing and the things they're doing then you can more effectively optimize your site and you know things like this can come back and help you with your page search for example understanding which pages are converting the most will help you understand what pages you may want to use for landing pages in the PPC campaign if that page is optimized and it's converting well then your quality score will go up and if that page is ranking and I can give you a real example on this talking to a punch in the face to Mike Simon and the guys over at My Shipley Donuts dot com today is National Donut Donut and so we were looking at his campaign right and so we're running out a new paid campaign for breakfast catering but now dig this his page on his site the breakfast catering page on his site just made it to page 2 right it's ranking well and it'll probably be on page 1 in the next 30 days 60 days maybe and so we were like rather than create
a breakfast catering landing page let's go in and revisit the conversion rate optimization or the CVO for this existing breakfast catering page that's already ranking why because this page is already ranking it's going to rank better it already has content every change we're going to make is going to simply improve that page and then once that same page begins to rank on the first page it's been designed to close and so it makes sense to do that on the existing page and page search helps you with that conversion rate optimization you can also determine why these pages are creating why they're converting and then you take that information and you rinse and repeat for the rest of your pages throughout your site so conversion rate optimization or CVO what we like to call it search engine visitor optimization is a key component to SEO he also says business development I love this one because SEO can really help with your business development he says it will help you find out what you need to become a better market leader and how long it will take to beat your competition and which activities will get you there in the most cost effective manner you know I think about I think about how SEO can help with business development right we got another client punch in the face to Susan Manning and the good folks over at Manning Pool Service so when we built their site we created these pages of content for like pool inspections right and pool inspections wasn't a big portion of their core business their core business was pool maintenance but since the site was optimized well they began ranking really really quickly really really high for swimming pool inspections more importantly since we're their marketing agency I'm copied on all the leads notice that most of the people who were requesting pool inspections were real estate agents and people in the process of buying a home yeah okay that created a meeting with the client you need to open up a department
strictly for pool inspections for realtors because it's a you're getting the tons of searches for it and this is a top dollar product these people are in a position to buy a home they're in a position to pay top dollar for a pool inspection and it's the analytics and SEO and those reports that allowed us to determine that and create a viable financial resource for our client yeah it's a business direction it's a business business development exactly so understanding your SEO and how that works can definitely help with your business development excellent stuff doing that SEO exactly that SEO also helps with your branding and communication he says once you understand what goes on in your customer's mind your brand message and marketing communication will be more consistent and more effective ding ding ding Tron he's absolutely right getting tired of punching you Tron you have to understand what your clients are doing what your customers are doing how they think what they eat when they search why they search the type of information they're looking for how they want to absorb it do they want it in a 15 second Instagram video or do they mind a two minute YouTube video right understand that do they mind swiping through your Instagram feed looking at pictures or would they rather go through a Facebook photo gathering understand how your clients absorb your content and how they communicate right when they talk to you or you talk to them are you using urban language or are you kind of being proper right or you understand how to communicate with them I went on to add that a good SEO person like me will mine the data and work closely with your social media strategy we're talking about branding and communication and SEO and the way you communicate with fans and clients and customers and brand yourself through SEO is with social media and so having that loop having that communication having that focus on SEO early in the game when you first created those social profiles
and all of that that makes branding and communication a lot easier so fact number two fact number two he says SEO is no replacement I'm just looking at what you're doing SEO is no replacement for a good product and he's right at the end of the day if your product sucks then your product just sucks and so no matter how much SEO you do it's not going to change how much your product sucks and so you need to have a good product a decent service right if you have one product that everyone else has and you're not is not ranking well and you're not making much money off of it probably going to revisit your product he goes on to say great SEO can't fix what's wrong with your product and matter of fact he quoted a US politician that said it would be like putting lipstick on a pig and that's right you can't fix up what's really bad and so I'd encourage you guys who are trying to optimize for something make sure the product the service or what you offer has value make it unique because you're going to need some USPs make it stand out unique selling proposition definitely he also says in regards to your SEO not being a replacement for a good product he says stop thinking about SEO as a quick fix or duct tape solution for your business is a long term strategy look I put on here it's not a band-aid it's stitches your SEO is literally stitches you get cut you can put a band-aid on it now it's the skin that replaces the wound after the stitches are removed exactly and I'm going to carry this analogy further I like I like stitches are the PPC for the immediate results yeah I get so dig this dig this one so it's just kind of same analogy considering that situation SEO is not that band-aid because when you get cut that thing has to be cleaned out that wound has to be cleaned I think
that's kind of like I don't know disavowing links right nasty crap yeah rewriting your content right and then you begin stitching it okay submitting your site maps and redoing your content and getting things right and then you have to let it heal yeah you have to let it heal and you have to go get it checked on periodically keep it clean while it's healing that's your social media presence that's your constant blogging that's your checking the reports yeah and until it heals and when it heals then your scab is gone good to go your stitches have been removed and you're better than it was before your business is bigger yeah exactly so SEO is not a band-aid it's definitely stitches it's definitely a long-term process and so if you think it's a band-aid that should be a blog post by the way yeah so good one on that one yeah number three he says fact three plugins can't replace an SEO expert and he's yeah plugins can't replace an SEO let me start that now SEO expert and so yeah it's going to be interesting he says you can't just install SEO quickly and easy a WordPress plugin cannot cover all the aspects of SEO and he's right those plugins are here to help you we use WordPress plugins for our SEO and we don't at all think that the plugin is going to do the work right frankly you have to work the plugin the plugin just makes it easier to do the work makes it easy organizes the work for you but you still have to do the work you still have to write good content you still have to build links you still have to submit robots files you still have to submit the webmaster tools you still have to optimize your images you still have to be socially active you have to do all those things now WordPress plugins and tools just make those things easier a lot easier but you still have to do them and so if you think
that you're just going to go install Yoast on your brand new WordPress thing and be done all you have is a vulnerable Yoast plugin because you're probably not updating it you're probably not updating it you're probably not using it and so it's just there inviting you to get hacked by the way a couple of podcasts ago we were talking about that the Yoast needs to be updated yeah I'm not joking right now reiterating that and so you definitely want to do that and now I understand why you did what you just did it took a while so yeah plugins can't replace that and so get that out of your mind it's going to require some effort to go with those plugins the last one number four he says good SEO is data driven good SEO is data driven he's right it's not driven off of what you think people are searching for or what your cousin said or what you in your heart know what people really want you know because you probably don't you probably think you do I mean because we thought we did yeah till you look at the data in fact we regularly think we do and they're like oh let's tweak that strategy because it's going to work better this way apparently apparently you have to look at the data he goes on to say that's why you should take decisions based on facts not gut instinct digital analytics are critical for this purpose and he's absolutely right which is why part of our process matter of fact the bulk of our monthly marketing includes a monthly conference with the clients why do we have that conference because SEO is data driven right we need to look at the numbers I need you as a client to understand how your ranking increased which keywords generated conversions and so you can tell me which one of those conversions actually turned into leads had value exactly so we can go back and forth and determine what worked and what didn't work for
the past 30 days then we can make adjustments for the next 30 days and then meet again and do it all over again it's a constant process driven by data driven by conversions driven by communication between client and agency and so it's necessary for the data please if you don't leave with anything else today understand how important data is that's why we send out physical reports and digital reports and then you get a call where we review those reports so all my clients out there or business owners or agencies who may not have gotten a set of reports about your website in the last 30 days 90 days 6 months we think it's a crime it's a crime you don't know how your site's performing and you may be converting you may be getting tons of calls from people saying I found you online I found you online I found you online I found you on their website I found you online great but how exactly how online did you type my name because you saw a commercial exactly did you type this number because you passed by a truck did you find me in the Google search did you hear a radio ad did you see a social media post pay per click exactly is that grand a month I'm spending on pay per click actually turning into clients or is it some good placement that I have on some of an obscure page that I'm not tracking that's actually generating value and I'm throwing away a thousand dollars a month exactly so data data helps you understand those things and it's important ladies and gentlemen it's important for you to understand how your site is performing and how you can make it and perform better so man I want to give a big punch in the face to you Tron Lingbo over at Search Engine Land great article dude four things most leaders don't understand about SEO I'll post that link later and awesome good stuff yeah great stuff we had some technical
difficulties you may be listening to the second version second YouTube video of this but the audio should come out great do we got anything else I got blank still I got blank or what so I got blank stare news and what news alright first we'll do the blank stare ok alright I think blank stare could also be called come on now yeah does that work yeah especially for Yahoo yeah so Yahoo you know they're going down that path of I don't understand what they're doing it just sucks so they're getting rid of Yahoo Maps they said hit a dead end look you had the Yahoo Maps like I didn't know that they're getting rid of it they're shutting it down at the end of this month and they've had it for eight years and they just said they're shutting it down at the end of this month they just say why but come on we know why why don't people keep throwing away property that we would love to manage right well because it can't compete with Google yeah I mean like Yahoo Maps you guys don't have a street view it's got to be worth something more than just shutting it down though probably not when you consider the resources and the people who use to manage it yeah it's probably worth and you consider the cost of the increase in cost to even make it marginally try to compete with Google Maps yeah or Bing Maps or TomTom or any of the things that's out there now yeah exit yeah especially when they're going more digital they're trying to focus on now that's what bothers me right they've already came out and said that they want to focus on local search and so I get you maps would be an important part of it unless they've just they're going to foster a relationship with somebody and then yeah yeah they're going to outsource it wow maybe maybe this will go back to 4 Square maybe so right probably I mean they don't really
have maps per se they have locations they don't drive by drive interesting yeah it is because it definitely lets you know where you're at I said drive by drive what I meant was turn by turn driving capability I agree what you meant and my what news my what was just it is where it goes to goes to shipping donuts my shipping donuts dot com in particular hashtag national donut day was today and we got a client who had doing pretty well has two locations here in Houston and I mean both locations are growing his sites are optimized they're actually outranking the corpse site for certain phrases so we'll take that so yeah so punch in the face to those guys for national donut day the what was because we didn't get no donuts at the office ship them to us or something we know you ship exactly and so so that's all I got excellent alright so if you're interested in growing your business with the largest simplest marketing tool on the planet the internet call a web style for increased revenue in your business our phone number is 713-592-6724 if you have a referral somebody who needs internet marketing SEO PPC whatever aspect of internet marketing you want send them our direction they pay their bill we will pay you remember I'm going to be on blog talk radio I'm the co-host of Creative Biz Ideas you can go to creativebizideas.com we broadcast on Monday mornings at 730 Central Standard Time I think it's going to be a repeat this next show but we'll be right back at it after that and finally remember we were filmed live here in Houston Texas 5999 West 34th Street Suite 106-77092 we are the most popular internet marketing podcast in the planet in the planet on the planet and in Houston I don't know that's because of all y'all on this side of the moon and this side of the moon and the other side too right because whoever's over there we'll be on that side of
