Social signals like the number of Facebook likes on a brand page, Facebook shares, Twitter followers, and tweets mentioning your brand or linking to your site are direct ranking factors. Indirect effects include increased inbound links, positive reviews on Google Local and Yelp, and lower bounce rates from socially familiar visitors.
Avoid URL shorteners when tweeting links if possible. When your tweet gets retweeted, a full direct link passes real link value back to your site. A shortened URL does not. Only shorten when a keyword-rich blog title makes the full URL too long to preserve characters.
At minimum, set up a Facebook page, a Twitter page, and Google Plus. For Google Plus specifically, create a personal author page, a Google Plus Local page for the business, and a business Plus page. All three serve different but complementary SEO purposes.
Not always. If a business's primary conversion is a phone call, a visitor who lands on the site, reads the strong call to action, calls immediately, and then leaves has converted successfully. In that scenario a high or even 100 percent bounce rate can reflect a well-performing page.
People are more likely to trust the website recommended personally by their friends than by a search engine. Social has always been the new word of mouth. That won't change.
